Educational Director Glenn
Sherman
The
past three years Glenn Sherman has been the Cantor, Torah reader
and B’nai Mitzvah teacher at Temple Beth David in Palm
Beach Gardens, Florida.
From 1995 to 2002, he served as the Torah Reader, Program Director,
and Assistant to Rabbi Leonid Feldman and Hazzan David Feuer
at Temple Emanu-El of Palm Beach, Florida, it was there that
Glenn created the Frequent Davener Program designed to continue
teenagers involvement in Temple services, following their B’nai
Mitzvot.
Glenn Sherman’s passion for Judaism inspired him to become
President of the Bachurei Chemed Synagogue in Long Beach, NY,
a unique Orthodox Synagogue targeted at training the youth of
the community in Torah reading and leading services. It
was that passion and natural ability to work with young people
that led to five years as an educator at Camp Ramah in New York
as well as Massachusetts.
Glenn was educated in New York, at The Hebrew Academy of Long
Beach, The Yeshiva of Central Queens, and Fairleigh Dickinson
University in New Jersey.
Glenn is the son of Cantor Louis J. Sherman of Delray Beach,
grandson of Cantor Abraham Isaac Sherman z’l, and great
nephew of Cantor Pinchas Sherman z’l of the Great Tlomackie
Synagogue in Warsaw, Poland, has officiated at High Holiday services
for the past 20 years, throughout South Florida.
A strong leader of the Jewish community, Glenn is the brother
of Rabbi Alan Sherman who serves at the Jewish Federation of
Palm Beach County.
Glenn, his wife Carol, and thirteen year old daughter Hannah,
reside in Palm Beach Gardens.
