Matthew G. Halpern, M.A., FSA, ATz

Matthew Halpern serves as Executive Director of Temple Beth El in West Palm Beach. In this role, Matthew oversees all synagogue operations, including membership engagement, marketing and communications, financial management, programming, and the physical plant.

Originally from New Jersey, Matthew has served in similar roles for USCJ synagogues in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Florida.

Matthew has served in leadership roles in the Conservative Movement for more than 20 years, most recently as Senior Vice President of Membership for NAASE – the North American Association of Synagogue Executives – and prior to that in various professional and volunteer capacities for USY at the local, regional, and international level.

Matthew has been recognized by his peers with two certifications through NAASE: Fellow in Synagogue Administration in 2015 and the Amin Tzibur commission in 2019.

Outside the synagogue world, Matthew is active with Maccabi USA and serves on the Board of Directors and various committees. He is the Vice Chair for the Maccabi USA delegation to the Maccabiah in 2025; previously, he served as Team Manager for the Maccabiah in 2022 and the European Maccabi Games in 2019, and was seven-time medalist across four Games as a bowler.
